We know there is no supernatural all powerful force that will protect us from our own stupidity, yet somehow, in spite of it all, we manage to live life with gusto. Why do we do it? Do we do it for the hell of it? Hell no! We do it for fun!

Re: Why should Pentecostals have all the fun?
Thu, April 15, 2004 - 12:50 AMGreetings from a new member.
Of all the atheist tribes it seems like this one is the only one with a sense of humor. Thanks for being! -

Re: Why should Pentecostals have all the fun?
Sun, April 18, 2004 - 8:22 AMHey, it's Sunday morning in Alabama, and I am in front of the computer instead of out and about enjoying the rapture. (my word for the christian free landscape afforded me on Sunday mornings, in which the eating places, movie watching places, and buying stuff places are deserted and peaceful...the parking lots are empty, and the roads are practically mine alone) I love Sunday mornings. I'm outta here. I'll be back when the chaos returns. When I come back, I will tell you all about naked mole rats.

Re: Why should Pentecostals have all the fun?
Sun, April 18, 2004 - 2:16 PMSherry, I hope you are having fun and enjoying the day. Alabama must be a chanlenging place for an atheist, do you have to keep your (non)belief under wraps with the locals?
Oh...one more question.... When where and how do I get my snake? -

Sun, April 18, 2004 - 2:18 PMOops, maybe I should have read the reason for being thread before that last post. I already have a pit full of metaphorical snakes to handle.

Re: Why should Pentecostals have all the fun?
Sun, April 18, 2004 - 7:48 PMThere is still no reason why you can't go handle a real snake, if you think it would make you happy. I am sure there are plenty at the local pet store. If it is a poisonous snake, I suggest using a snake-stick, since they do bite and there is no god around to prevent it.
I have a thought that might help sum up the reason for this tribe..."because there ARE atheists in foxholes"
(you may have heard a commonly stated christian "clever" saying, "there are no atheists in foxholes". Pure balderdash)
You don't have to believe in god to be brave. If you are convinced that things will be all heavenly perfect when you die, are you actually being brave by facing death, or just deluded. Maybe only atheists and excommunicated people are capable of facing death with true bravery.
